Manga Status & Awards

The Aoashi manga is written and illustrated by Yugo Kobayashi, with the concept by Naohiko Ueno. So meaning Yugo Kobayashi, He designs the characters, structures the chapters, writes the dialogue, and draws all the artwork. He is the main author who takes the core concepts and turns them into a readable comic and the second creator is Naohiko Ueno (The Concept Creator) He provides the specialized knowledge for the story. Naohiko Ueno is a real-life Japanese sports journalist and author who specializes in youth soccer and the J-League youth systems. He gave Yugo Kobayashi the realistic framework, rules, and internal politics of elite Japanese youth football so the story would feel 100% authentic rather than fictional or exaggerated.

Aoashi manga has been completely completed. There are total 40 volumes of the manga which ended in August 2025 and the popularity of the manga was also very high. More than 25 million copies of the manga are in circulation in March 2026. The manga won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award (General Category) in 2020.

The first season was created by Production I.G., a studio known for its sports anime genre. This studio is known as a sports anime creator because Production I.G Studio has created some of the most famous sports anime of all time.

Aoashi Season 2 Story

Aoashi Season 2 will pick up exactly where the first season ended, adapting the acclaimed “A-Team Arc” starting from Manga Chapter 118. At the end of Season 1, Ashito is promoted from Team B. Ashito joins Tokyo City Esperion’s top youth squad (the A-Team). But then a reality hits Ashito that the speed, physical strength of team A is a dam different from that of team B. Aoashi Season 2 will have a total of 24 episodes which will be seen in 2 cour. The first cour 1 will be released October 4, 2026 on NHK E-Tele in Japan, with new episodes airing every Sunday at 5:00 PM. And for international audio and video Crunchyroll holds the official simulcast rights outside of Japan and will stream Season 2 globally with subtitles, followed by regional dubs. What is Aoashi Anime ?

The series follows Ashito Aoi, a very talented football player. Like a raw game, he is not fully polished, meaning he lacks guidance, but even without falling, he is very amazing. He has the spatial awareness to see the entire field. Now one day, Ashito is playing football in his school and Tatsuya Fukuda notices his talent and sends him to Tokyo City Esperion. He joins the youth team but he struggles to adapt to the high tactical level of elite youth football and undergoes a shocking position change from Forward to Fullback to utilize his playmaking vision. Now after this position change, a new journey of Ashito begins.
